Veela are sometimes used in Harry Potter or Magic AUs for fic in other fandoms. The vast majority of Veelafics are written in all seriousness, but there are also parodies of the genre, such as Mirabella's A Consummation Devoutly to be Wished. It is also fairly common to make Mary Sues Veela or part-Veela. Veela ancestry is frequently used as an "alien biology made them do it" plot device, where two characters, usually Harry and Draco, are forced to become a couple due to Veela mating instincts.
A Veelafic is a story where one of the characters is revealed to have Veela ancestry and powers. Veela are magical creatures from the Harry Potter series with enhanced sexual allure.
